An MIT student wearing a brooch she made out of a circuit board went to pick up her boyfriend at Logan Airport, and found herself facing a squad of marksmen intending to shoot her if she made any false move. State Police Maj. Scott Pare, the commanding officer at the airport, said the woman, Star Simpson, was "extremely lucky she followed the instructions or deadly force would have been used... She's lucky to be in a cell as opposed to the morgue."
Whether or not she knew the brooch would cause panic, I have seen people innocently wearing jewelry made from circuit boards, who could also find themselves in the same situation. Not MIT kids, but middle-aged office workers who just think it's pretty, and it is. You can find the stuff at any craft fair, and some non-electronic jewelry still looks high-tech enough to spook Archie Bunco.
