Canadian quarters scare U.S. Army contractors

U.S. Army contractors working in Canada found some funny money in their pockets and thought someone was trying to bug them.  They raised a spy alert and had the coins analyzed by the Defense Department because they had "high tech" coatings that could have been "nanotech" transmitters.  If they'd asked a coin collecter, they would have been informed that the coins were "Poppy Quarters" released by the Canadian mint in 2004 to commemorate Canada's war dead, and the coating was to keep the poppy symbol from wearing off.  Instead, they tied up Intelligence resources and unconfirmed suspicions about the coins' "nanotech transmitters" were included in espionage reports.

I wonder if the Army recruited the contractors from Boston, and whether they were equally panicked by twonies.
