The assumption has been that if there's a successor to "Smallville", it would be a Superman series, but from the way they've been introducing Justice League characters, I think a JL series may be next, probably treated in the same plainclothes style as "Smallville". That would give them a lot more material to work with than just the life of Clark. I expect the last JL member to be introduced will be Bruce Wayne, before either moving on to a JL series or using the creation of the Justice League as a high point to end the Smallville franchise for good.
