El Club Mexicano duros de cuadro con chile y limon, purchased from El Mexicanito Grocery Store in Bridgeport, CT.
Ingredients (as listed, including the repetitions): wheat flour, soybean and/or cottonseed oil, salt, corn starch, sodium bicarbonate, spices, citric acid, corn starch, sodium bicarbonate, spices, citric acid corn syrup solids, garlic, natural flavor, artificial colors (Yellow 6, Yellow 6 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake, and Red 40 Lake), silicone dioxide.
These are chicharone-like 5-by-7-inch sheets of puffed wheat. The consistency is like the wafers in wafer cookies, or the styrofoam-like ice cream cones you get in the supermarket. They taste a little like chicharones, but they're porkless. In fact, they have little taste at all. They're like a Mexican version of rice cakes. I broke them apart and used them to finish off a bowl of salsa, which I think is the only thing they're good for.
