Texas legislator tells Asian-Americans they should make their names more American.

The Whitest Woman You Know...

When an Asian-American constituent told Texas state representative Betty Brown that Asians often have difficulty voting because of the way their names are written on documents, she replied, "Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese -- I understand it's a rather difficult language -- do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?"  Maybe she means Texish.

I hope she realizes "you and your citizens" can be construed as "not ours", and her comments imply she's blaming "them" for "our" ignorance difficulty with "their" names.
