A Historic Election

In Connecticut, we are voting between a white man and a Hispanic man for President.

The white man is Obama.  By Connecticut law, a child's race is determined by the mother's, because the law can be more sure of her race than of the father's.

The Hispanic man is John McCain.  He was born in Panama, and by federal law, anyone born in a Hispanic country is Hispanic.

So it's not so black and white.

McCain's Speech

Obama won, but McCain's gracious concession speech shows that he probably wouldn't have been such a bad alternative.
