Follow the eater to Bombay Olive...

After shopping today, I stopped at Bombay Olive in West Hartford, CT.  The restaurant specializes in northern Indian food, with menu items inspired by Mount Everest, the Himalayas, Persia, and Afghanistan.  The decor was as you would expect for a good Indian restaurant, with original paintings of serene people and mountain landscapes, and subdued spacey New Age background music.

I had lamb jhalfrezi, masala tea, and an Indian pudina cocktail.  The jhalfrezi is a type of curried lamb with peas and big chunks of broccoli, peppers, and onions, and it was served in decorated metal dishes.  The masala tea is an Indian black tea spiced with cloves.  The pudina is a cocktail with citrus rum, lime juice, and mint.  They served papadums with onion relish and tamarind sauce before the meal.  Everything there was very good.
