Illinois governor in hot seat for a hot seat.

Yesterday, Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich was in the news for suspending all state business with the Bank of America unless the bank agreed to lend more money to a bankrupt company that wasn't paying back the money that the bank had already lent it.  He admitted it didn't make good business sense, but he ordered the bank to do it anyway, so that the company itself wouldn't be held responsible for abandoning its laid-off employees' severence pay and benefits.

But that was yesterday.  Today, he's being prosecuted for corruption, along with his chief of staff John Harris.  Among the charges are bribery, mail and wire fraud, political revenge against the Chicago Tribune and its staff, using his influence to get attractive posts on various organizations' boards... and trying to sell Barack Obama's vacated senate seat.  The governor was caught on tape saying that Obama's seat was so valuable, "you just don't give it away for nothing."
