Taylor Pugh4-year-old Taylor Pugh has had an in-school suspension for four weeks at a Dallas suburb school because he has long hair, which violates the school's dress code.

He is growing his hair long so he can donate it to wig makers for cancer patients, and his parents are supporting him.

Because his parents won't drag him to the barber, Mesquite school officials are punishing Taylor.  They have isolated him from the rest of the school's students on the premise that his unruly hair will result in unruly students.  According to the school's website, "students who dress and groom themselves neatly, and in an acceptable and appropriate manner, are more likely to become constructive members of the society in which we live."

His parents are concerned that the school is more worried about Taylor's hair than his education, and his father has vowed to "back him to the end."

It's true, though! Long-haired people are troublemakers! I remember there was this one kid years ago with long hair who always liked to rally people to his side against the establishment. Hung out with the same gang of twelve guys, plus a woman with a questionable past, causing trouble all over Judea. Poor guy never amounted to anything.

Yay dad. School districts have become, in general, the poster-child for the very worst that bureaucracy has to offer.

Of course, this is not new, thinking of the Scopes trial...
